Most lockouts are a stale browser session, a mistyped name, or a confirmation mail that landed in spam. The written version is the login notes thread and the Help Center. The FAQ covers the questions that are not really bugs.
When you do post, say what you clicked, what you expected, and what the screen did instead. “It doesn’t work” cannot be answered. Do not include your password, and do not post a full inbox screenshot that shows other mail.

Private window got me through. The normal profile still had a half-finished session. I cleared that site’s cookies only, not the whole browser.

That is the usual fix. If the private window also fails, check the username character by character and look in spam for the confirmation. Then post the exact message on the screen.

Confirmation was in spam under a different tab. Once I finished that step, posting stopped asking me to verify again.
