Do these in order. Skipping ahead is how new accounts collect a warning before they have said anything useful.

    One. Finish the account on the live forum, including any confirmation mail. Two. Read the rules and the welcome. Three. Search once so you see how titles work. Four. Write a single introduction: who you are on here, which boards you will actually use, and nothing that belongs in a request. Five. Lurk on one busy thread long enough to see a moderator merge a duplicate. That lesson sticks better than a lecture.

    Did the profile and the rules page first. Holding the introduction until I know whether I belong in the lounge or only on the request desk. The checklist did not say I had to post today.

    You do not. Reading counts. An introduction helps people recognize your name later. It is not a toll.

    Add a step zero if the login spins: the private-window test before you register a second name. Two accounts for one person is a mess staff does not enjoy untangling.

    Week-one mistake I still see: posting the same hello in notices, lounge, and the desk. One hello, in this thread or the lounge check-in. The other boards are not greeting cards.
